i got a Canon IXY Digital 60 (i think it’s equivalent to an SD450) after lots of soul searching and talking with friends i decided to stick with canon. i know we’ll have a long and happy life together. i nearly delayed a few more days*, but Amanda helped me make the plunge. her slogan […]

the weather in japan

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

i was looking at some weather sites, trying to find one that told me what i wanted to hear about tomorrow’s weather, when i noticed this:     these are images from the JAL website. i find the 1st and 4th pretty clear, but i’m not sure what distinguishes between needing a folding umbrella and a […]

sushi magic

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

chad and i frequent the 100 yen kaiten sushi place that i’ve mentioned (and photographed) before. thursday we went for lunch, and where we sat offered a different perspective on the sushi making process there: he’s making gunkan-maki here, but the same machine is used for nigiri sushi.

surripa-ps

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Okay, so look what you eat on Girls’ Day – Hina Sushi! I was dying. I didn’t want to eat them and left them for last. We also ate Chawanmuchi but that wasn’t as exciting looking so I didn’t take pics.

concert

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

tuesday night chad and I travelled to Isahaya to see Deerhoof play. It was quite the adventure. I had read about the concert a week before on pitchfork and emailed the contact for the show. He told me that the show was sold out, but ended up getting us two tickets. Here are some highlights […]

Happy Girls’ Day!

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Today is Girls’ day (click for more information). For girls’ day, people with daughters get hina dolls and put them on display. Even my tamagotchi has them on display. Hina Dolls are beautiful and expensive. And you don’t play with them. They’re just decorative. On Saturday we went to JUSCO to look at them. Some […]
