And since one isn’t enough..
I’m totally psyched to be co-chairing a second CASCON workshop called “Women in Technology: New Strategies to Attract a New Generation of Girls.” From the online description:
The recent dramatic decline of female enrolments in computer science and engineering education programs follows a time when female participation had peaked in the late 1990s. This leads to the assumption that past recruitment and retention strategies do not work well with the new generation of teenagers, both girls and boys. A panel of experts will discuss various aspects of this issue, present strategies to reverse the declining trend, and suggest how to measure success. How information technologies can be integrated into many different career types will also be discussed. This workshop builds on the success of previous CASCON workshops related to women in technology.
I am co-chairing the workshop with Dr. Monique Frize who is a truly exceptional woman. And, as if that wasn’t exciting enough, Telle Whitney, President and CEO of the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology, is on our panel of speakers! It will be pretty amazing! I am just so excited!
See, fall isn’t all bad!
Edit: Let’s try this tagging thing… Here is the cascon2006 tag!!!!!!

Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to miss practicum days. I’ll be teaching the lil ones Math or CS at the time.
