It’s my cousin Jenna’s Bat Mitzvah this weekend in Vancouver and my parents were supposed to fly out this morning. YAY!
Now, there’s been quite a few problems with this. Firstly, my mom had an awful flare up of her arthritis and hasn’t been able to walk since Sunday. Because of SARS, the clinic that she goes to at Toronto Western is shut. While this is not a doctor’s strike, no one seems to be answering the phone or picking up messages at the office. So she’s been in so much pain that we all thought she wouldn’t go. BOO!
Anyways, yesterday she got in to see another doctor and had her legs drained (they made her wear a mask and gloves, but that’s another story). The doctor even told her that if she was careful, she could fly. YAY!
But then someone decided there should be an ice storm. Flights keep on getting cancelled because apparently there is no de-icing fluid in the city of Toronto (or maybe Air Canada just afford it…). In fact, all flights to destinations in North America have been cancelled. BOO!
There’s still hope. Mom and dad are now booked on a flight departing at 10 tonight – the joke is it’s going to Hong Kong (via Vancouver) so that’s why it’s unlikely to get cancelled. YAY!
Meanwhile, mom is excited because she gets to wear her mask and gloves from yesterday again. She wants to know fi she can get her meal liquified so that she can drink it through a straw. My dad says that no way is he wearing a mask. Mom says if he doesn’t wear one, he’s not coming. She’s on her way to the drugstore now to get one for him as an early birthday gift…

I am no longer a leaf blowing in the wind.
It’s official: I’m going to be planted in Boston for the summer. 🙂
See, those pompoms really do work wonders…

I just had an interview with some mentors from Extreme Blue and [when they mentioned web logging] told them that I have a blog.
Things like that remind me that I still have yet to master the ‘think before you speak’
I have no doubt that they’re going to find this site now, so….
Yay for the Extreme Blue Cambridge Lab’s Internet Technology Group!
But seriously, the project sounds great (100% my fave of all the ones I’ve been interviewed for so far) and the group might not be half bad either… 🙂

Yesterday a friend of mine told me that he had randomly stumbled across my blog.
Apparently I am the first person he actually knows who has one!
Go figure…
Anyways, Hi Nathan!

I hate my school. I sit and study and write midterms, and miss out on all the fun.

Tonight I wrote an exam without my lucky pencil.
It was the first exam since grade nine that I wrote without it.
I miss my pencil.
And just now I had a panic attack that my calculator was gone. I found it though.
I really take school supplies seriously, okay?

We played the Kevin Bacon game in our algorithms class today. It’s really addictive. The highest Bacon number I can get is 4.
Can you find anything higher?
