Last night Natalie, Gareth and I saw Harry Potter. Of everyone in the fully packed theatre, there was only one kid. (I wasn’t *that* surprised, it being an 8:00 showing and quite a long movie, but Nat really was.)

The audience was pretty good – at the end during the sentimental parts, everyone had the giggles. Natalie also had the giggles any time they said ‘Bloody Hell’ which, believe it or not, happened quite a few times. Oh, I got the entire cinema to clap at one point too 🙂

So the movie is a lot scarier than the first one (Natalie was funny hiding in her scarf), but I liked it way better. Though I wonder if it that’s because Hogwarts is just around the corner…

From Gee’s Menu:
“Terrine of Ham Hock, Duck, Pigeon and Foie Gras with Toasted Brioche and Redcurrent Relish”

Ew. Gareth ate flying rats last night. Hopefully it was the one from Rome that shat on my head…

So, mom gets to the airport at 7pm for a 10pm flight (thought it was at 9pm, minor mix up).
She checks in, puts through her baggage and goes to the gate.
Waits for more than two hours.
Goes to board the plane.
They check her passport, and look at her and say: “this looks nothing like you”
No surprise. It was my father’s passport and they don’t look alike – for starters he has a mustache (she doesn’t in case you were wondering)
Turns out they just *didn’t* check her passport at check-in – uh, hello security?!

Bottom line: They wouldn’t let her on the plane and had to offload her bags from it. My dad drove her passport to the airport, and she got on the next flight (at midnight) where they gave her a seat in [crappy Air Canada] Business class. She was even more pissed off when, before take-off, they offered her champagne and mango juice but refused her multiple pleas for red wine… ask her about it.

But she’s here!! And it’s wonderful to have her [not to mention the Bagels and Sweedish Berries and Microwave Popcorn that came along for the trip].

Went for a super nice dinner last night with Mom, RexiG and Natalie (yeah Pathan hardcore crew) to a place called Gee’s. Then got my mom to Bar Love but not onto the Poll… Oh well, can’t blame a girl for trying.

Tonight we’re going to see Bombay Dreams in London, where we’ll be for the rest of the weekend.

My mom rocks.

My mom is getting here soon!

But not as soon as she was supposed to…

Seems that she missed her original flight because of some sort of passport mix-up (my dad gave her the wrong one [!?]).
Will find out more when she gets here in a few hours(!!!!)

i love italy.
so does my camera.
so much so that it decided to stay behind(*) in Rome.
* stay behind: got lost (most likely stolen from my purse)

no use dwelling on it. actually, there are pros to losing ones digi cam whilst on vacation in italy:
a) can shop at kickass italian stores to cheer self up
b) can eat *super* good food and gelato to cheer self up
c) have excuse to go back to italy – with a camera that i won’t loose
d) get to upgrade camera!! (i’m thinking about the canon s200 [or maybe the s230 as a splurge].. any suggestions greatly appreciated)
e) there is no evidence of our vino inspired adventures…

but that said, the trip was fantastic. Natalie and Lisa were the funnest – I can’t imagine italy without them. for trip details check out what Nat had to say.

jenn: nat, was the gym busy?
nat: yeah! there were like 4 people there!

our gym is always dead. there are two of each cardio machine, and yet even during peak hours you can always get your choice – *not* that I’m complaining. it’s just funny that at goodlife in the land of the loo you have to wait for an eliptical even though there are like 8 of them!

My fam is going to NY for the weekend. They have tickets to go on the Ferris wheel in the middle of the Toys ‘R Us in Time Square *and* are meeting Mr. Mechano. Furthermore, our family friend works at Dylan’s Candy Bar so they’re going there too.

Hrmph. They are doing all Jenn things in NY. They don’t miss me at all.

Well, I guess *I* am going to Italy next week…

October 16th, 2002

today has been a slowwww wednesday. well, i’ve been slow: my neck was hurting from looking up at the monitor, so I went to the bookshelf to get a ‘booster seat’. someone then kindly pointed out that i could just raise the seat of my chair… yeah.

Thanks to Matt for making my morning. If you want any weekend details (or pictures) check out his site.

Also, last night I discovered that Smarties here are flavoured: that is, instead of tasting like Smarties, green tastes green, and orange tastes orange… anyways, they’re crap. I’ll stick to Cadbury’s thankyouverymuch.
