Dear Markham Honda:

I was happy to pay $10 more to come to you instead of my normal dealer to get my snow tires put on because you are so close to my office and will drop me off. Then your service dude quoted me a price $20 more than what I was told on the phone yesterday. I got him to match the quoted price.

Then he told me I needed my tires Aligned at the cost of $100. I asked if I needed to have the alignment done. He said yes (without even checking my car). I told him I’d go elsewhere, at which point he offered to charge me half of the cost for the alignment. No thanks. I’ll take my car to my normal place.

It was only then that he said I didn’t have to get the alignment. Wasn’t that what I had asked in the first place? Sigh.

I might not know much about cars, but I’m not an idiot. And I definitely don’t like being lied to.

P.S. It took more than an hour from when I dropped off my car to arriving at my office (a 5min drive away) so next time I’ll think extra hard about whether the time I save is worth the aggravation of being lied to!

Awesome post! I’m not sure why I think it’s so awesome, but it just is. I guess cause I can totally relate to that “getting screwed over at the car place cause I’m female” thing.

Did you send this letter to the actual Honda Dealer? Guaranteed you will get some pretty nice free stuff from them. I complained once about how my washer fluid didn’t get topped up after my oil change and got a free oil change out of it.

Nope, not yet. I wrote it when I got into work from the dealer this AM. Good idea – I will send it after I have my car back!
Also, I wonder how many times my fluid didn’t get topped up when I got my oil changed! Never thought to ask!!

LOL… good idea to send it AFTER you get your car back!

I probably would have never noticed the washer fluid, but I happened to have a part container in my trunk that I wanted to get rid of as I cleaned my car out after getting my oil change done. So I checked to see how much of it I could fit in, and to my surprise, I could empty the entire thing (and there was room for more!).
