More Library Love

November 23rd, 2009

I love that I put a book on hold before it was released and now, just a few days after I can order it on Amazon, it’s waiting for me to pick up at the Library.

And yes, in case you were curious this is a chic lit book.

Oh, and I am going to try and download an audio book from the Library tomorrow. The challenge will be that I need to use a specific piece of software that’s only available for PCs so I’m not quite sure if/how I can get it on my iPod. We shall see!!

Stuck in my head

November 22nd, 2009

I get songs stuck in my head. Right now, it’s a song from Really Rosie that goes through the letters of the alphabet called Alligators All Around. It’s very annoying, so I thought I should share so that maybe someone will sing along!

Cupcakes

November 21st, 2009

My mom made me the coolest cupcakes! They are PINK because they are made with diet cream soda (ask her how hard it is to find Diet Cream Soda in Toronto) and she made lots of them for me to share. But right now the big box is here.

i know I’m a cavegirl and all, but I think given the circumstances I will have one to carb load before my run! WAHOO!

Caveman cookies again

November 20th, 2009

Turns out if I have a recipe to follow I too can bake caveman cookies.

Problem becomes if there are 2 similar recipes with conflicting times to leave things in the oven, waiting an average of the 2 times doesn’t necessarily work.

So half are burned.

Grumble.

Caveman Cookies

November 19th, 2009

I have been eating like a caveman for the past little while, following the Paleo Diet.

Today I came across a site that sells Caveman Cookies – OMG! A cookie that’s not a cheat! You can order them online (they don’t sell them in any Canadian stores yet – and they’re $$). But I’m a hungry and not patient girl (and my cleaning lady comes tomorrow) so I think I’m going to try and make a batch of my own.

The Caveman Cookies site lists their ingredients, so I found this recipe which looks pretty similar. I’ll head to Ambrosia after work to get some unsweetened dried fruit and almond flour (or I might brave using my Magic Bullet to pulverize some almonds!).
I haven’t tried theirs yet assuming mine are good, I’ll not know what I’m missing!

Wish me luck.

7 AM

November 18th, 2009

That’s what time I start my Crossfit class.

In any case, my Crossfit gym moved at the beginning of the month. Today, when I arrived at class, I noticed that there was a sign over the door. I told the instructor I liked the new sign. He looked at me like I was nuts (well, he looks at me like that a lot, but still).

Turns out the sign has been up since last week. Today was the first day I noticed it.

Go figure.

Popular

November 17th, 2009

I have a cough. It’s the result of my sinus infection and asthma – together they make me all coughy. Which has made me popular at work. Several times I’ve heard people walk by and say “stay away from that cube”. A few teammates have kindly told me to get well soon (I really don’t feel/look/act sick other than the coughing) and my manager told me “not to be a hero”.

Everyone thinks I’m going to give them the Swine or something!
Anyway, I left the office at three so I could Cough (and work) from home. There’s better tea here anyway.

this may or may not have happened at work today

November 16th, 2009

i went to talk to someone about a problem i’m working on at work.

i wanted to show her something so i switched over to my firefox window. the front tab has PORN opened. pictures. girls. mouths. men’s genitals. disgusting.

i have NO IDEA how it got there (i can’t wait to see what Jeff comments) – yes, I do realize I probably clicked on a link on a website or tweet or email, but still. boy was i embarrassed.

and no, i didn’t jot down the link to share with you. i closed the tab as fast as i could, and giggled nervously.

anyway, if i get fired tomorrow, i guess i’ll know why.

Hello Ohio!

November 15th, 2009

Well, if I had to lose a post I guess I should be grateful that my mom sent me an article about what I had written – namely that Bruce kept calling us Ohio on Friday night which was pretty funny. He seemed really embarrassed, but N figures he must make that mistake at least once a month.

The other highlight of the evening was our pre-concert meal at the Post. It’s a bar and grill right across from the Palace. As we pulled in, we were told there was only valet parking left (they charge $5 for normal parking on event night, $7 for valet and there’s a free shuttle to/from the theatre). That was fine with us – and it turns out that parking at the theatre is ~15 so not a bad deal. They only had 6 spots left – and this was at 5:30PM when the show started at 7:30.

Inside the bar was PACKED. There was a 1.5 hour wait for a table – I guess no one was leaving since it was a pre show crowd. A radio station was broadcasting from inside, and as you can imagine it was all Springsteen. Everyone was singing along at the top of their lungs and just really hyped up. The bus ride over to the stadium reminded me of town nights at summer camp where we just sang and screamed. It was a lot of fun.

Bruce played for three hours straight – barely taking a breath between songs. He had more stamina than some of the folks in the crowd it seemed!

Anyway, it was a terrific show and if you have the opportunity to see him in concert, DO IT!

oh no

November 14th, 2009

wrote a whole long post about the concert last night. then wordpress decided to do it’s whole angry thing and refuse to post.

i’ve fixed the db problem now, and will rewrite tomorrow. hope that this post can go up before midnight to keep this on a roll!
